3 Days Journey From Marrakech To Fes Through The Desert

Your 3-day desert adventure from Marrakech to Fes begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel or the airport, setting off toward the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains and the winding Tizi-N-Tichka Pass. Along the way, you’ll pause for panoramic views of dramatic landscapes and hidden Berber villages. 

Next, explore the iconic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah a UNESCO World Heritage Site famed for its appearance in Hollywood films like Gladiator, The Mummy, and even Game of Thrones. After immersing yourself in its historic charm, continue to Ouarzazate, often called “The Gateway to the Desert,” where you’ll enjoy some free time for lunch. 

The journey then takes you through the lush Skoura palm grove and into the fragrant Rose Valley. As the day winds down, you’ll arrive in Boumalne Dades to spend the night surrounded by the region’s stunning rock formations and kasbahs.

After breakfast, your journey continues through the breathtaking Dades Valley, where we’ll pause at a scenic viewpoint overlooking the dramatic rock formations of the gorges. From there, we head toward the awe-inspiring Todra Gorges, where the river has carved a towering canyon of red cliffs perfect for a leisurely walk to take in the raw beauty of the landscape.

As we make our way through the lush palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad, you’ll have some free time to enjoy lunch before the adventure shifts gears. By afternoon, we arrive at the edge of the magical Merzouga desert. 

Here, your camel awaits to take you across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, with a stop on a high dune to witness a stunning sunset that paints the sands in shades of gold and crimson. As twilight settles, you’ll arrive at a luxurious desert camp, where a night of Berber music, dancing around the campfire, and stargazing beneath a vast sky awaits an unforgettable evening in the heart of the Sahara.

On the final day of your unforgettable 3-day desert journey from Marrakech to Fes, rise early to witness the mesmerizing sunrise over the serene Sahara dunes an experience that lingers long after you’ve left. After a hearty breakfast at camp, ride your camel back to Merzouga, where your driver awaits. 

The journey continues with a visit to Rissani, once the capital of Tafilalet and still a vibrant market town, especially lively on traditional souk days. After exploring its bustling market, we head to Erfoud to visit a unique fossil workshop that showcases Morocco’s ancient geological treasures. 

Then, we follow the scenic route along the Ziz River, stopping for panoramic views of the lush valley. A lunch break awaits in the town of Midelt before we head into the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, where you might encounter friendly Barbary macaques feel free to share a moment and even a snack! 

Our final stop is in the charming town of Ifrane, nicknamed the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine-style houses and snow-dusted winters. As the sun begins to dip, we arrive in Fes, where you’ll be dropped off at your accommodation or the airport marking the end of a short but truly magical Moroccan adventure.
